Following the announcement from the Government regarding the introduction of Tony’s Law, PCC John Campion has made the following statement.
“Today I welcome the news of tougher penalties to those who commit child cruelty with the introduction of Tony’s Law.
“Unfortunately it is due to the devastating life changing injuries Tony Hudgell received as a very young child, that led to his adoptive family campaigning to increase the punishments of those who inflict this abuse.
“No child should be at risk of abuse and hopefully these tougher penalties will deter offenders from committing such heinous crimes. I want to reassure the communities of West Mercia that I am committed to ensuring support and protection for those at risk, the victims and their families. “
