Communities across West Mercia will again help shape local policing this year, as John Campion invites views on police visibility, accessibility and local crime priorities.
Town and Parish Councils across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire are being contacted and asked to provide their feedback in the annual survey
Feedback from last year’s survey showed the majority of councils felt local police were doing a good or fair job, with areas to improve including officer visibility and rural crime
John Campion said: “I promised I would listen to our communities as Commissioner, and this project is one example of how I am doing that. Feedback from both the public and local councils last year helped inform my decisions to increase officer numbers in West Mercia by 215.
“The Chief Constable has committed to delivering key service improvements as a result of that additional investment, such as faster response times, more police visibility, greater access to police, and increased public confidence. I want every community to feel the benefit of that investment, and to hear whether those improvements are starting to be felt in our communities. Our local councils are extremely well placed to know and understand those issues.
“This survey runs alongside interviews that go on year round to canvas opinions from local residents about policing and crime. Combined, they give me a clear and confident picture of what’s working, what’s changing, and where I need to support the police to deliver further improvements”.
Links to the survey are being circulated to councils by email, and via Associations of Local Councils with a closing date of 11th August. Postal versions are available from the PCC.
