A poster competition giving school children an opportunity to express what road safety means to them has seen four Shropshire schools named winners!
More than 700 creative posters were submitted by 24 primary schools as part of Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s competition in December.
Two of the eight winners came from Shropshire schools and another two from schools in Telford & Wrekin.
Emily from Holmer Lake, Harriet and Sophia from Radbrook, Benjamin from Norbury & Stiperstones and Amelia from John Fletcher of Madeley, were visited by APCC Paul Middlebrough and West Mercia Police who delivered a mini-police officer and an assembly on road safety.
PCC John Campion said: “At the heart of my Safer West Mercia Plan is a focus on improving road safety in West Mercia.
“It was brilliant to see so many primary school children getting involved in my poster competition, and coming up with creative ways of illustrating what road safety means to them.
“All four road safety posters were stand-out entries, and each pupil should be incredibly proud of their efforts to promote safe driving in the community”
A mini-police officer will now stand outside all four primaries, reminding motorists to drive safely and park responsibly as children go to and from school.
