Committed to tackling drugs in local communities, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion leads a partnership that is making a difference.

Recognising the progress that is being made in West Mercia, the PCC met with the Home Office’s Joint Combatting Drugs Unit on Friday 22 November.

Delivering on the Government’s 10-year ‘From Harm to Hope’ strategy, partners are coming together to address complex challenges such as county lines, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and reducing drug-related harm.

During the meeting, the PCC raised the need for the government to provide clarity on funding into the medium and long-term, as well as calling for improvements to be made in how data is shared across government departments.

PCC John Campion said: “I know drugs and the crime associated with their use is a top concern for many residents. That’s why, through the Combatting Drugs Partnership, we have a laser-like focus on tackling the issue at its root.

“The Home Office’s recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of all partners involved across the three counties and shows we are on the right track.

“Whilst it’s clear harm is being reduced, the next challenge is ensuring this change is felt and seen by local communities across West Mercia.”
