PCC John Campion has welcomed the Government’s announcement to ‘Level Up’ areas across the country, including West Mercia, with a cash injection of £2.1 billion.
In Worcestershire, Malvern will benefit from £19.9 million to spark transformational change following a successful Round 2 Bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.
Plans for the funding will deliver a world-class cultural facility. It will level up access up access to arts and culture, creating life-changing opportunities for young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
PCC John Campion said: “I am delighted to see the Government continuing to deliver on its commitment to Level Up. More than £70 million will be coming to West Mercia to breathe new life into our local communities by boosting a range of regeneration and cultural projects.
“As set out in my Safer West Mercia Plan, I am committed to building safer communities. An important element of the new cultural facility is making sure it is a place where you are safe and feel safe. I look forward to working closely with Malvern Hills District Council, partners and West Mercia Police to deliver on this.”
