PCC John Campion brought together partners from Community Safety Partnerships across West Mercia to identify ways to work better together for the benefit of communities.
At a summit event, the group, which is made up of representatives from the police, local authorities, fire and rescue services, health, and probation services, discussed funding opportunities, community triggers (anti-social behaviour) and reducing crime.
The PCC, who works closely with these organisations to protect communities and help people feel safer, allocated a total of £636,541 (2021/22) of funding for Community Safety Partnership (CSP) related projects and initiatives, with £325,000 allocated for CCTV across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Worcestershire.
PCC John Campion said: “We are a group of partners who come together for the benefit of the communities we represent. It is therefore hugely beneficial to understand what each area is doing and where improvements can be made in order to tackle crime and make West Mercia safer.
“I will continue to support the CSPs, as the work they do is best done when it’s at a local level where community concerns are known and can be addressed effectively.”
