Police and Crime John Campion has commended the multi-agency response to rebuilding communities following the floods.
After the devastation caused by both Storm Ciara and Dennis, many communities have faced extensive damage and isolation. Over the past week, emergency workers, local authorities, the army, volunteers and communities have come together to provide aide to those affected by the floods.
Commissioner John Campion said: “Despite the terrible impact these recent floods have caused, I have been impressed by how communities have come together to support others. I would once again like to thank all the agencies across West Mercia that have worked tirelessly to keep people and their property safe. Despite more heavy rain predicted for the weekend, we are now in a recovery phase with plans in place to support communities and get them back to their normal lives.
“Local authorities will of course take the lead on recovery, however I will continue to support West Mercia Police by ensuring they can play their part. There remains flooding in many areas with rivers swollen and further weather due, so I would remind all residents to stay out of flood water and check official sites for latest news and further information.”
