Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion is calling for communities in Telford and Wrekin to support for a change that would deliver better parking enforcement in the area and free up police time.
The Commissioner has agreed to offer up to £200,000 to Telford and Wrekin Council, over the course of four years to support the implementation of a dedicated civil enforcement team.
The local authority has started a consultation on proposals to transfer responsibility for parking enforcement from West Mercia Police.
Commissioner John Campion said “I would encourage the public to support the proposals which would deliver a better service for communities, freeing up considerable resource, and giving the police the time to focus on the most serious priorities, which will keep our communities safe. Dedicated civil enforcement teams are already the norm, across most of the country, and I have worked hard with the council to progress this change, for the benefits of local residents and communities.”
The consultation is open until Sunday 15th October, take part by clicking here.
