PCC John Campion said: “Following the three unrelated incidents in Telford at the weekend, my thoughts are with the families of those affected. As PCC, I have been personally reassured by West Mercia Police’s Chief Constable around the response to the incidents. In particular, the significant force-wide resources that have been allocated to investigate these shocking incidents.
“I understand that communities will be concerned, so I am pleased to see that local policing teams have increased presence to provide community reassurance and be on hand to answer any questions people may have.
“As PCC I am clear that the wider society work around serious violence in our community must continue with pace. There is already significant partnership work in Telford such as the Safer Stronger Communities project, Steer Clear and Crimestoppers ‘Fearless’. I will continue to play my part so we can work towards delivering a longer term solution to reducing serious violence.”
