Pay tribute to servicemen and women – past and present – by pinning your poppy onto an Unknown Tommy by Monday 4th November. An event will take place at Police Headquarters later in the week to pay respect to servicemen and women, both past and present.
Get involved in this year’s Remembrance Day commemorations by creating a poppy and placing it on a Tommy at your local police station.
A total of six statues have been made by The British Ironwork Centre, funded by the PCC, to cover West Mercia.
Statues are outside police stations at Malinsgate, Malvern, Hereford, Kidderminster and Shrewsbury
There is a statue based at West Mercia Police Headquarters at Hindlip for police staff and officers to pin their poppies.
We want you to be at the heart of the project and to express yourself so you can illustrate what remembrance means to you.
To attach your poppy to a statue, please make sure you add a hook. As the statues are outside, please make sure your poppies are durable and are able to withstand the winter weather.
West Mercia Police has a strong history of recognising veterans with 17 ex-servicemen and women currently serving in the force. The PCC also funds Remember Veterans to the tune of £25,000. The scheme helps ex-service personnel integrate into civilian life and prevents them from coming into contact with the criminal justice system.
