FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – INFORMATION REQUEST

To whom it may concern,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please could I have the following information:

1) How many police stations have been closed in West Mercia police areas since 2010? (please could dates of closure and locations of stations be included please).

2) How many police stations have been earmarked for closure this year?

Response.

In response to question 1.

Police Station closures:-

Since 2013 and to the best of our knowledge.

  • Redditch Police Station – closed in 2023 – relocated to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre before relocating to the new Police and Fire facility in December 2024/Jan 2025.
  • Shrewsbury Town Centre – Closed in 2019 and now located but at Shrewsbury DHQ
  • Newport Police Station – Closed in 2016 and relocated to Donnington Police Station
  • Shifnal – Closed in 2015 but now has reopened in part of the former Police Station in 2022
  • Much Wenlock – Closed in 2019
  • Ironbridge – Closed in 2015
  • Peterchurch – relocated to Peterchurch Fire Station in 2019
  • Stourport County Buildings – relocated to the Civic Centre in 2019
  • Ellesmere – Closed in 2019, temporary relocated and now lease agreed and reopened in 2022 at the Town Council offices.
  • Bromsgrove – Closed and relocated to the new Police and Fire building
  • Dorrington Mill – Closed 2013
  • Frankley – Closed in 2020 – moved to Bromsgrove Police and Fire Building
  • Broadway – Closed in 2017- moved into the existing Evesham Police Station
  • Crab Cross – Closed in 2014
  • Kingfisher Shopping Centre – Closed in 2013
  • Worcester Guild Hall – Closed in 2014.
  • Comberton Road, Kidderminster – Closed in 2014

The list provided above, includes all police facilities, that enclose police posts as well as police

stations.

In response to question 2.

There are no police stations earmarked for closure either this calendar year or this financial year. The temporary Redditch police station will close once occupation has occurred in the new facility that is being constructed on Middlehouse Lane in Redditch.
