A poster competition giving school children an opportunity to express what road safety means to them has seen two Worcestershire schools named winners!
More than 700 creative posters were submitted by 24 primary schools as part of Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s competition in December.
Two of only eight winners across West Mercia, Inaaya from Stanley Road Primary School and Mia and Tilly from Burlish Park Primary School were visited by APCC Paul Middlebrough and West Mercia Police who delivered a mini-police officer and an assembly on road safety.
PCC John Campion said: “At the heart of my Safer West Mercia Plan is a focus on improving road safety in West Mercia.
“It was brilliant to see so many primary school children getting involved in my poster competition, and coming up with creative ways of illustrating what road safety means to them.
“Inaaya and Mia and Tilly’s road safety posters were stand-out entries, and they should be incredibly proud of their efforts to promote safe driving in their community”
A mini-police officer will now stand outside Burlish Park Primary and Stanley Road Primary, reminding motorists to drive safely and park responsibly as children go to and from school.
